High-Quality Silica Fume For Concrete Enhancements

High-Quality Silica Fume For Concrete Enhancements

Silica fume is a by-product obtained during the production of silicon metal and ferrosilicon alloys. It is a finely divided, amorphous, and reactive powder composed mostly of silicon dioxide, with an average particle size of less than 1 micrometer.

Products Description

Silica Fume, also known as microsilica, is a byproduct of the production of silicon and ferrosilicon alloys. It is an amorphous, highly reactive form of silica that is extremely fine, with particles that are approximately 100 times smaller than cement particles. Silica Fume is typically collected from the flue gases generated in the production process of ferrosilicon and is composed of 85-98% silicon dioxide (SiO2). It is used as an additive in concrete and cementitious materials to improve their strength, durability, and resistance to chemical attack. Silica Fume is also used in refractory materials to improve their mechanical and thermal properties.

High-Quality Silica Fume for Concrete Enhancements

High-Quality Silica Fume For Concrete Enhancements

Products Description

1. High Strength: SilicaFume is a highly reactive pozzolanic material that reacts with calcium hydroxide in the presence of water to form calcium silicate hydrate gel as part of the cement hydration process, resulting in enhanced compressive strength and durability of the concrete.

2. Low Permeability: The high reactivity of SilicaFume creates a denser concrete mix, which reduces permeability and increases resistance to chloride ion penetration, carbonation, and sulphate attacks, thus extending the life of the structure.

3. Improved Workability: SilicaFume has a very fine particle size, typically less than 1 micron, which allows for better packing, dispersion, and distribution within the cement paste, resulting in improved workability and reduced bleeding.

4. Increased Durability: The dense microstructure created by SilicaFume also improves the resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and abrasion, making it a preferred material for use in high-performance concrete, bridge decks, pavements, and marine structures.

5. Environmental Benefits: SilicaFume is a potential fly ash substitute in concrete, reducing the carbon footprint of concrete production. Additionally, it is a by-product of the silicon metal industry, using recycled materials and reducing waste.
